Roman History in York Minster Undercroft
Available from October 1, 9.00am
Explore York Minster Undercroft with archaeologist Ian Milsted, who led excavations that uncovered the Roman, Anglo-Saxon and Viking history beneath the Minster.
In 2012 archaeologists had the chance to explore the hidden history of the site as part of work to construct the cathedral’s new visitor attraction in the Undercroft.
Roman York (Eboracum) was founded in AD71 and remained a major military and economic hub in Roman Britain until the early 5th Century.
