This September sees the return of our digital festival Archaeology Live! In addition to live events and online video content for all ages, we have created learning resources especially for schools and home educators as part of Archaeology Live Schools Week. The best bit is, it’s all absolutely free!

Archaeology Live Schools Week has been designed with Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 learners (ages 7-14) in mind and can be enjoyed from home or from school.

The resources are perfect for supporting history topics such as changes in Prehistoric Britain, the Roman Empire, Anglo-Saxons and Vikings and the Middle Ages, and cross-curricular activities will also support geography and STEM topics too.

Sign up to Schools Week, and hear about future updates from The JORVIK Group Learning team, here:

All week you can access our on-demand video series A Journey Through Archaeology and download activity sheets and resources to help learners engage further. Plus, tune in every day at 2.00pm to go behind the scenes of YAT’s artefact collection and join one of the team to interpret some fascinating artefacts in our Artefact Mysteries livestreams.

You must sign-up for access to Schools Week, when we will share with you how to access the content during the week. We will put all the pre-recorded and downloadable content online on Thursday 8th September, so you have time to review it. Only those who have signed up will be sent the link to access this content!

If our dates don’t suit you or you live in a timezone where the livestreaming is inconvenient, all of the livestreams will be available to watch on-demand immediately after the session. All content will remain available until Monday 26th September.

If you want more digital engagement with archaeology in the school year, why not book a virtual outreach session for your class? Prices are £85 for a single session, and choose a Viking, Roman or Prehistory themed session hosted by our archaeologists. We also offer paid-for sessions for home-education families at select times throughout the year, so check our website and our social media channels to find out when these are available.
