Welcome to
Archaeology Live
Join experts from York Archaeology as we explore the history below ground in York, Nottingham and Sheffield
About the event
Archaeology helps us understand the stories of the past, of the people who walked this land before us, how they lived and died, and how that shaped the places that are familiar to us today.
This summer, York Archaeology and The JORVIK Group are hosting a series of events, culminating in Archaeology Live, when you are invited to join us for livestreams and hands-on activities, and learn a little more about fascinating archaeological gems in York, Sheffield and Nottingham.
We will be adding a host of new content throughout the week, so bookmark this page to explore a little deeper!

This summer, York Archaeology and The JORVIK Group are hosting a series of events, culminating in Archaeology Live, when you are invited to join us for livestreams and hands-on activities, and learn a little more about fascinating archaeological gems in York, Sheffield and Nottingham. We’ll be heading below ground in York Minster, into the hidden river culverts of Sheffield and into the caves of Nottingham Castle for some exclusive tours, and also showing how some aspects of archaeology can be done without ever putting a shovel into the ground at Wollerton Hall.
